Big Brother is watching you

¿Que qué pinta Bowie, Incubus, Muse y Radiohead aquí? Pues como hace 64 años que, un día como hoy, 21 de enero, murió George Orwell, en homenaje se me ocurrió hacer una playlist recopilando las canciones que más me gustan inspiradas en su libro "1984". Es un listado ecléctico y hay un poco de todo, así que, que nadie se asuste si entre la delicada vocecilla de Chris Martin y el androgenismo del señor David Bowie, aparecen unos punkarras con crestas multicolores cantando a voz en grito.

• "California Über Alles" de Dead Kennedys.

• "Talk show on mute" de Incubus.

• "Faster" de Manic Street Preachers. 

"I hate purity. I hate goodness. I don't want virtue to exist anywhere. I want everyone corrupt."

• "Standards" de The Jam. 

"Look, you know what happened to Winston..."

• "United States of Eurasia" de Muse

"These wars, they can't be won."

• "Spies" de Coldplay.

• "Testify" de Rage against the machine. 

"Who controls the past now, controls the future, who controls the present now, controls theh past..." 

• "Rock n roll with me" de David Bowie. Bowie intentó producir un musical basado en la novela pero la viuda de Orwell le negó los derechos. Lo único que queda de esa idea son algunas canciones en el disco Diamond Dogs. 

• "Only people" de John Lennon.
